SUMMER INSTITUTE IN DIGITAL MEDIA 2009 (Porto e Lisboa)

Estão de volta os workshops mais fantásticos do Mundo!!!!! (pelo menos como participante na edição de 2008 é o que penso).

A prestigiada Universidade do Texas-Austin traz a Portugal alguns dos seus docentes para dar formações nas mais variadas áreas ligadas aos media digitais. São praticamente de borla e mesmo muito muito bons, e decorrem este ano na Universidade do Porto e na  Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova, em Lisboa.

Overview

The Summer Institute 2009 is a unique event organized by the UT Austin|Portugal Program comprising several intensive courses that cover different areas of the Digital Media Program such as cinema, music and sound, animation and journalism, among others. The courses will be taught at the graduate level.

How to apply for the Courses (Lisbon and Porto):

Interested prospective applicants should send an application letter, to up to a 350 words, and CV (all in English) for each Course to which they wish to apply. The name of the Course should be written on the subject of the email (one email per Course). Please also state your full name, address, age, highest degree achieved and a contact.

Email your applications to utaustinportugal@fct.mctes.pt.

Fee per Course: 30€ (paid only by the selected applicants to the universities where the Courses will take place).

Note: The FCSH/UNL Film and Television Master students may attend the Courses taking place at the university for free with permission from their program coordinator.

A caminho de Lisboa | Off to Lisbon

A partir desta segunda-feira, e durante duas semanas, vou estar em Lisboa para uma formação de Jornalismo Online promovida pela Universidade de Austin.O professor Rosental Alves vai ser o orientador, e pelo que vi do programa que ele enviou aos 12 escolhidos parece-me que vai ser mesmo muito bom. Por isso, durante uns tempos vão haver menos posts, mas os que fizer estarão relacionados com o workshop, para partilhar com vocês o que vou fazendo e aprendendo. Se estiverem pela capital, digam alguma coisa, há gente daqui que gostava de conhecer pessoalmente -havendo tempo- ou então enviem sugestões sobre o que se pode fazer em Lisboa na segunda quinzena de Junho, com um Campeonato Europeu de futebol pelo meio. De qualquer forma, a única coisa que espero destas duas semanas é aprender muito e divertir-me mais. 😉

From next monday, and for about two weeks, i’ll be in Lisbon to attend to a Online Journalism Workshop, promoted by the UT – Austin. Professor Rosental Alves will be lecturing, and for what i’ve seen of the syllabus that he sent to the 12 chosen it seems to me that is going to be really great. So, during the following days there will be fewer posts, and the ones i’ll write will be related with the workshop, to share with you what i’m learning and doing. If by any chance you are around those parts, let me know, there are some of you that i’d like to meet in person – if i have the time – or send your suggestions on what can i do in Lisbon in the second fortnight of June, with a Euro Cup in between. Anyway, the only thing i expect from these two weeks is to learn a lot and have even more fun. 😉

Syllabus:

O propósito deste workshop é preparar estudantes para trabalhar como jornalistas em sítios de notícias da Internet e/ou desenvolver actividades académicas relacionadas com o impacto das tecnologias digitais no jornalismo.

Durante este seminário, vamos estudar os efeitos da Revolução Digital sobre a prática e o consumo do jornalismo, a partir das experiências de diferentes países e comunidades. Entre esses efeitos, vamos examinar o surgimento e a evolução do jornalismo online; a busca de novas narrativas jornalísticas que aproveitem características da World Wide Web, como a hipertextualidade e a multimídia; fenômenos contemporâneos, como os blogs e as redes sociais; a transformação das audiências passivas da era industrial em redes ou comunidades ativas; o conteúdo gerado pelos usuários (o fenômeno Pro-Am); novas práticas como crowdsourcing e database journalism; a ruptura dos modelos de negócio da mídia tradicional e a tentativa de criar novos modelos; etc.
