@ Verdade – website

Falei d’@Verdade aqui há uns tempos e uma das dificuldades que tive na altura foi descobrir o site deles e os contactos, que muita gente pediu a altura. Aqui fica o link e o desejo de boa sorte para todos que levam @Verdade em frente em Moçambique. NOTA: o site do jornal é construído em Joomla, uma das plataformas CMS mais versáteis e fáceis para se construir um site informativo. E gratuita. Não percebo como é que há jornais locais em Portugal que gastam imenso dinheiro em plataformas fechadas- e sites horríveis- criadas por empresas de infromática que se encarregam elas mesmo de alterar os conteúdos e layout das páginas, fechando esse processo à redacção. Não podem haver barreiras entre os jornalistas e o site, mas também é verdade que há muitos jornalistas que têm medo de espreitar por detrás da cortina.

I wrote about @Verdade a few weeks ago, and one of the problems i had then was to find their website, and a contact, that were asked by so many readers. Here’s the link now, and i wish the best of luck for all of those who are delivering @Verdade in Mozambique. NOTE: the newspaper’s website is built in Joomla, one of the most versatile and easiest to work as a news website platform.And it’s free. I can’t understand how there are local newspapers in Portugal spending huge amounts of money in author platforms -and dreadful websites- created by IT companies that take care of publishing content and changing layouts themselves, shutting that process to the newsroom. There can’t be no barriers between journalists and the website, but it’s also true that many are afraid to look behind the curtain.

A Verdade de Moçambique | The Truth of Mozambique

“A Verdade” chegou a Moçambique. Este é o nome do semanário gratuito lançado no final do mês de Agosto em Maputo. O jornal tem 32 páginas a cores, e espera ter uma tiragem de 30 mil exemplares, um número significativo se virmos que a tiragem dos outros semanários anda entre os 2500 e os 6000 exemplares. A importância deste lançamento pode ser vista neste prisma: o preço de um jornal em Moçambique – um dos países mais pobres do Mundo – equivale a oito pães, ou um mês de telemóvel.

“The Truth” (“A Verdade”) has arrived to Mozambique.This the name of the free weekly launched in the end of August in Maputo. The newspaper has 32 colour pages, and they aim to have 30 thousand copies every week, a significant number if you see that the other weeklies circulation goes between the 2500 and the 6000 copies. The importance of this launch can be seen under this perspective: the price of  “any other newspaper is equivalent to the price of eight pieces of bread, or a month of cellphone access.”

According to the publisher A Verdade generated no trash on the streets because people were so excited about receiving something for free that they took it away with them. Many readers took the newspaper to a café, or on the streets, and reading it there.
