@ Verdade – website

Falei d’@Verdade aqui há uns tempos e uma das dificuldades que tive na altura foi descobrir o site deles e os contactos, que muita gente pediu a altura. Aqui fica o link e o desejo de boa sorte para todos que levam @Verdade em frente em Moçambique. NOTA: o site do jornal é construído em Joomla, uma das plataformas CMS mais versáteis e fáceis para se construir um site informativo. E gratuita. Não percebo como é que há jornais locais em Portugal que gastam imenso dinheiro em plataformas fechadas- e sites horríveis- criadas por empresas de infromática que se encarregam elas mesmo de alterar os conteúdos e layout das páginas, fechando esse processo à redacção. Não podem haver barreiras entre os jornalistas e o site, mas também é verdade que há muitos jornalistas que têm medo de espreitar por detrás da cortina.

I wrote about @Verdade a few weeks ago, and one of the problems i had then was to find their website, and a contact, that were asked by so many readers. Here’s the link now, and i wish the best of luck for all of those who are delivering @Verdade in Mozambique. NOTE: the newspaper’s website is built in Joomla, one of the most versatile and easiest to work as a news website platform.And it’s free. I can’t understand how there are local newspapers in Portugal spending huge amounts of money in author platforms -and dreadful websites- created by IT companies that take care of publishing content and changing layouts themselves, shutting that process to the newsroom. There can’t be no barriers between journalists and the website, but it’s also true that many are afraid to look behind the curtain.

Joomla – Parte 2 – não vai ser possível | Part 2 – it’s not going to happen

Apesar de ter estado nos meus objectivos fazer mais partes de um pequeno guia para trabalhar com o Joomla, não me vai ser possível fazê-lo. Não tenho neste momento tempo nem cabeça para fazer um trabalho com a qualidade que vocês merecem. Mas como a primeira parte do guia foi muito requisitada pelos meus leitores, vou deixar-vos links para poderem aprender a trabalhar com o Joomla. Caso tenham mais sugestões ou links, deixem-nos nos comentários. O Joomla é uma grande ferramenta e funciona muito bem como CMS para pequenos jornais, assim que se percebe as suas manias. Depois é só usar a imaginação. Se precisarem de algum tipo de consultadoria com o vosso site Joomla avisem.

Despite doing more parts of a small Joomla guide was part of my plans, i’m afraid it’s not possible for me to complete the task. These days i don’t have the time or the mindset to write a guide with the quality you deserve. But since there were lots of hits on the first part of this guide, the least that i can do is to leave you with some links so you can learn how to work with Joomla. If you have any other suggestions or links, leave them in the comment area. Joomla is a great tool and it really works quite well as a CMS for a small newspaper, after you understand it’s ways. Este post fala do Joomla como uma boa opção para se construir uma página web para um jornal. Eu sei que é, e tenho tentado vender essa ideia para alguns jornais locais que não precisam muito mais do que pôr fotos e texto e ainda ter uma gestão simples dos conteúdos, com umas aplicações extra. Depois de 3 anos a trabalhar com o Joomla e de ter feito sites para jornais (www.vozdemira.com – há mais dois mas estão encerrados por razões que desconheço) consegui ver onde é que esta excelente plataforma CMS cumpre e falha, na construção de um site noticioso. Como isto dá pano para mangas, vou dividir este artigo em várias partes.

This post points Joomla as a good option to build a website for a newspaper. I know it is, and i’ve benn trying to sell that idea to a few local newspapers that don’t need much more than to place some pictures and the news stories, and still have a simple content management, with a few extra applications on the side.After 3 years working with Joomla and doing a couple of sites for newspapers (www.vozdemira.com), i got a clear perception where this CMS platform fails and delivers as a news website. Since this will get extensive, i’ll divide this article in several parts.
