Feeling generous? | Sentem-se generosos?

Thank you | Obrigado

I’ve been reading and writing about the future of the news industry, the new business models and ways to generate revenue so much, that i forgot the most important finance of all: mine. This week i realized i’m broke. Nothing too serious, i have a small amount of outstanding debts, and bills to pay soon (internet is one of them), and i can’t borrow any more money from my loved ones, things are hard for all of us.

I was thinking about proposing a work (a report, an investigation) and then asking for your funding. Unfortunately, i won’t be able to do that before solving these immediate issues. I’m not the kind of person that asks and doesn’t give anything back, so it’s hard for me to do this. My work with this blog is all i have for trade now, hope it will suffice for now.

I’ll be considering this also as a test, not to you of course, but to the goals i have set for me, and my career plans. No one lives on air, and i have to change my current situation. Your help may boost my plans to a whole new level. I explain things better here, i have a Three Phase Plan so you know what will happen with your contribution.

I’m not expecting much to tell you the truth, but any help is welcome. Thank you all.

London, UK – February 05, 2009
Twestival, the global Twitter charity event today launches Twestival.fm, a worldwide online music project which aims to raise an additional $20,000 USD for the Twestival cause charity: water. Artists, musicians and labels – including Bloc Party, Erol Alkan, Imogen Heap and David Usher – will be giving something back to the community by donating their music for download and streaming from the 5th – 19th February.

Tracks will be available at http://twestival.fm, where music fans are invited to make a voluntary payment or ‘tip’ in a unique charitable take on the ‘pay what you want’ model made successful last year by Radiohead.

Twestival takes place globally on 12th February 2009, when 200+ cities host Twestivals, bringing together local Twitter communities for 24 hours of fun and fundraising. Participating cities include London, New York, Fargo, Cardiff, Beirut, Cape Town, Shanghai and Lima.

Prior to launch, tracks have been donated by artists/labels including: Imogen Heap, Bloc Party, Mystery Jets, The Rakes, Erol Alkan, Actionman (aka Herve), Example, Toddla T, Ben Westbeech, Bonde do Role, Howard Jones, The Young Punx, Yaron Herman, David Usher, Mistabishi on Hospital Records, and Rob da Bank’s label Sunday Best. Organisers hope for more signed and unsigned artists to contribute after the launch on 5th February.

Participating British singer-songwriter and Grammy nominee Imogen Heap said: “Really loving Twitter! I’m excited to be part of Twestival.fm and I’ll hopefully help raise some funds in the process.” (@imogenheap)

Twestival.fm was put together by a small team of volunteers determined to leverage the power of today’s social media and web 2.0 tools for a good cause. Overseeing the project are on-and-offline event organisers Madhouse Collective. They’re excited to demonstrate how a channel like Twitter allows content creators to interact and share with engaged audiences, whilst creating tangible value – in this case $20,000 USD or five charity: water wells.
