Twitter em Portugal | Twitter in Portugal

Já falei aqui do Twitter algumas vezes, mas pelo que vou vendo entre as pessoas que conheço, é que poucos portugueses conhecem este serviço ou percebem para que é que serve. Pois para tirar dúvidas, leiam estes dois artigos sobre as potencialidades do Twitter, especialmente para jornalistas: Twitter is making news faster, better (Part 1 of 2) Taking Twitter to the next level (Part 2 of 2) ambos de Mark S. Luckie, no seu blog 10.000 words. Há pouco tempo, Gabriela Zago, estudante brasileira de jornalismo e uma das editoras do TwitterBrasil, pediu alguns dados sobre a utilização do Twitter em Portugal para construir um mapa que servirá de apoio a uma monografia que está a escrever sobre o assunto. As minhas conclusões foram no mínimo desoladoras. O que consegui descobrir escrutinando a lista dos 515 utilizadores registados em Portugal no Twitter foi o seguinte: -só há dois jornais em Portugal a usar o serviço: http://twitter.com/Publico http://twitter.com/ExpressoOnline -depois há um twitter dedicado a resultados de futebol em directo ( há mais 3 dedicados aos jogos dos 3 maiores clubes nacionais, mas não sei quem os gere) http://twitter.com/Jogosemdirecto -há outro (que eu acho útil) para saber que concertos vão havendo por cá, em especial em festivais http://twitter.com/festivaispt -depois há alguns projectos como o http://twitter.com/portugalbirding, com versões regionais, mas que não funcionam.Mais tarde vim a saber que existe uma rede de contactos na que se dedica exclusivamente a este assunto e que parece não ter perdido gente para esta alternativa; -há também outros relacionados com o tempo: http://twitter.com/weatherlisbon. -o mais curioso e com informação relevante, é o de uma corporação de bombeiros que apresenta todos os dias as condições atmosféricas e o risco de incêndio: http://twitter.com/bvcanas -depois temos um que é da responsabilidade do Ministério da Administração Interna mas que parece que nunca funcionou: http://twitter.com/mai_gov_pt -finalmente, o serviço da Brisa que já foi aqui também referido no blog; De qualquer forma, o mais curioso nesta (curta) lista de 515 twitteiros foi que, cerca de 70% ou mais estão ligados às novas tecnologias (webdesigners,programadores) e cerca de metade não actualiza o seu tweet há meses. A ideia do TwitterBrasil ficou-me na cabeça, se houver gente interessada em colaborar na criação de um TwitterPortugal é só dizer que eu alinho.

I’ve written about Twitter here before, but as far as i can see among the people i know around here, is that few portuguese know this service or understand what is it for. So, to clear any doubts, read these two articles about the potential of Twitter, specially for journalists: Twitter is making news faster, better (Part 1 of 2) Taking Twitter to the next level (Part 2 of 2) both by Mark S. Luckie,in his blog 10.000 words. A few weeks ago, Gabriela Zago , a brazilian journalism student and of the editors at TwitterBrasil, asked for some data about the usage of Twitter here in Portugal, to create a map that will work as a support for an essay she’s writing about this subject. My conclusions we’re desolating, to say the least. What i found out by browsing the list of the 515 portuguese registered twitter users was the following: -only two newspapers use Twitter feeds: http://twitter.com/Publico http://twitter.com/ExpressoOnline -then there’s a twitter feed dedicated to live football results (there are three more specially dedicated to the games of the three top clubs in Portugal, but i don´t know who runs them); http://twitter.com/Jogosemdirecto -there’s another (that i find quite useful) that let us know which concerts are happening, particularly at music festivals: http://twitter.com/festivaispt -there are a few projects like http://twitter.com/portugalbirding , with regional versions, but that aren’t working at all. Later i found out that there’s already a web network exclusively dedicated to birdwatching and that seems to not have lost users to this alternative; -there are also others weather related: http://twitter.com/weatherlisbon. – the most curious and with relevant information is a feed of a fire station, that presents weather conditions and fire hazard levels for each day: http://twitter.com/bvcanas -then we have one of the responsibility of the Government, and the ministry that holds the security and emergency administration, but that has never worked: http://twitter.com/mai_gov_pt -finally, the Brisa service that has already been referred previously here in the blog; Anyway, the curious thing about this (short) list of 515 twitterers was that about 70% are new technologies savvy (webdesigners,programmers) and half of them don’t update their tweets for months now. I got stuck to the idea of TwitterBrazil, if there is anyone interested in collaborating to create a TwitterPortugal just let me know that i’m in.
