Free dailies Metro and Destak are the two papers with the highest circulation in Portugal. Metro distributed 179,000 copies in the first 6 months of 2007 against 157,000 in the same period of 2006. Destak was just behind with 175,000 copies (164,000 in 2006). Both papers have editions in Lisbon and Porto, while Metro also distributes a national edition in some other cities.
Paid papers Correio da Manha (116,000), Jornal de Noticias (92,000) and Publico (43,000) are 3rd, 4th and 5th. Only Correio da Manha increased circulation compared to last year. Sports papers Record and O Jogo did not publish audited data.
Free business paper OJE distributed 22,000 copies dailies. New entries Meia Hora (June 2007) and Global Noticias (September 2007) are not yet included in the survey.
